General
Are you affiliated with a college or university?
No. We are not affiliated with a college or university in any
capacity.
Why did you
establish the site?
We thought there might be a need.
The site was established by two
parents who live in a college town.
We knew there were a wealth of
well-qualified college student
babysitters in our area, but it was
difficult and time-consuming
connecting with them and finding
just the right sitter. We knew
of many other families who felt the
same way.
We thought there must be a way to
help families like us and student
babysitters find each other. In addition, we
many, many years Web and
database experience. We love the Web and this is what
we like to do!
How It Works
Do you conduct checks on the sitters (or parents)?
No, we do not. We are not a referral service. We
do not conduct any kind of background searches on any of our
users, whether parent or student sitter. We are a
communications tool aimed at connecting college student
babysitters and local area families in need of service.
It is up to each individual user to evaluate the other party
through whatever means they see fit.
I'm a parent, why do I need to subscribe with your site?
As a parent, you may search our babysitter listing for free
to see if there might be any students who match your
criteria. If you wish to contact a sitter, or post a
job opening that is available to registered student sitters,
you need to subscribe with the site.
I'm a student, why do I need to register with your site?
The quick answer...it's free!
If you are serious about getting babysitting jobs, then take
a few minutes to register with our site and fill out your
profile.
I'm a student who lives in a college town you cover, but my
school is not listed. Can I register?
Yes! In our listings, we tried to list the largest
school in the college town area we cover. However, if
you live/go to a higher education school in a college town
we cover, but your exact school is not listed, you may still
register with the site.
I'm not a college student, but I live in a college town you
cover. May I still register for the site?
Our site was designed for college student sitters and
college town families. However, we know there are
others who may be looking for babysitter jobs, who are not
college students. As long as you are 18, you may
register with the site. In fact, we've had
grandparents and school teachers register with the site
looking for babysitting jobs.
Will the student/parent know my contact information?
To help protect your privacy, other CollegeSitter.com
registered users will only know your information if you
provide it to them. You will be known and contacted by
the username you establish on this site.
How do I contact
a student/parent?
Once you are registered with the site, you may contact a
student/parent by using the "Contact" button found at the
bottom of each job listing and babysitter profile.
When you contact a party through our Web site, we send them
a message on your behalf. The message is sent to their
e-mail address provided to us upon registration and is found
in their CollegeSitter.com "My Account" page.
How current is the sitter information on your site?
We realize there is a high turnover rate for student
babysitters due to graduation, summer vacations, and other
factors. We take several steps to help ensure our data
is as up-to-date as possible. We ask the student's
graduation date, we ask them to keep their information
current and delete old or out-dated information. In
addition, we post the "Record Last Accessed" date on the
babysitter profile page to let you know when the babysitter
last accessed their CollegeSitter.com account.
I'm a parent who posted a job. How long will my job be
displayed?
Your job will be listed on our site either until you delete
it, or your membership expires.
After I subscribe as a parent, do you offer any guarantee
that I'll find a sitter?
Through our free search, you will be able to first see
possible student or students who match your desired criteria
before you subscribe with the site. However, we do not offer
any guarantee that you will ultimately find a sitter
through our site.
What areas do you cover?
Current CollegeSitter.com covers the
following areas:
We are
always
looking to
expand to
other
college
towns so if
you would
like to
bring
CollegeSitter
to your
area, please
contact us.
How do I
maximize the
chances of
finding a
sitter on
your site?
While we
can't
guarantee
you'll find
a sitter
through our
site, we do
want to try
to give you
the best
possible
chance.
Be sure to
visit our
Tips
page for
information
that can
help.
Why do you only cover certain areas?
The simple answer is we want to
offer a quality product and give
parents and sitters the best chance
in finding one another. When
we enter a college town, we take a
concentrated approach in recruiting
sitters to register their free
profile on the site.
However, we are
always looking to expand to other
college towns so if you would like
to bring CollegeSitter to your area,
please
contact us. If you are a parent
who helps bring CollegeSitter to
your area, you will get a free year
on the site.
I'm a student and I'm no longer
interested in baby-sitting.
How do I deactivate my
CollegeSitter.com account?

3. On the My Account Page, click to "Update" your profile.

Payment
How much does it cost students to register with the site?
If you are a student, you may register free of charge.
Parents must pay a membership fee to enjoy the full benefits
of the site.
What are
you subscription fees for parents?
CollegeSitter.com subscription fees are as follows:
- $19.95 for 3 months access
- $34.95 for 12 months access
Why do you use PayPal for the credit card processing...is it
safe?
Yes! PayPal is safe. We chose PayPal because it
offered the safest, most-reliable, and most cost-effective
way for us to accept and handle credit card processing on
the Web. We are trying to keep the costs of running
this site down to a minimum so we can keep our registration
fees low.
Do I
need a PayPal account for your site?
If you do not already have a PayPal account, you may
subscribe for one through PayPal at the time of purchase.
PayPal is owned by eBay and is one of the most popular
payment forms on the Web. By entering your information into
PayPal, you may pay by any major credit card.
Does my
membership automatically renew?
No. We do not believe in the automatic renew process
as we feel we may charge people who may not actually be
interested in continuing their membership. If you wish
to renew or extend your membership (and we sure hope you do)
you may renew via "My Account."
Do you offer refunds?
Sorry, but we do not. Once you
subscribe to the site, you immediately have access to
babysitter information and the convenience and privacy the
site allows. Because you have access to the
information upon subscribing to the site (and hence acquired
the product you purchased), we do not offer a refund.
